Nagarahole is situated in the Deccan Plateau and forms an integral part of the Nilgiri biosphere. It is one of the finest remaining habitats of the Asiatic Elephant. Over 300 bird species have been reported in Nagarahole, including rarities like Blue Face Malkhoa, White-cheeked Barbet and Nilgiri Flycatcher. Some birds seen at Nagarahole are the Yellow Browed Bulbul, Pacific Swallow, Grasshopper Warbler, Orphean Warbler and the Yellow Billed Babbler. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Wildlife Sanctuary and was set up in the year 1973 is contiguous to the protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka on the northeast and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu on the southeast. It is also known as the Muthanga. Wayand National Park of India is spread over an area of 344 sq km and forms a part of the Wayanad Plateau. It occupies area in two districts of Kerala.
